Emma and I have had a very busy week! On Monday, we drove about three hours each way to Springfield, IL, to see Abraham Lincoln's house, museum, and grave. We spent most of the day there, and Emma declared it to be "the best day EVER!" :-) Can you tell she LOVES "her" Lincoln? Lol The museum alone was worth the drive! They had TONS of incredibly life-like wax statues of Lincoln and family (and Fredrick Douglas), GORGEOUS hoopskirt dresses that Mrs. Lincoln or her contemporaries wore, and Abe's ACTUAL hat!!! On Tuesday, we just stayed home and caught up on some actual schoolwork. Wednesday, we went to the park with one friend, and then the Children's Museum with a different friend. On Thursday, of course, we had Adoration, then home for lunch and school, then off to get Bella (our typical Thursday). Today (Friday), Emma woke up obscenely early (for our typical routine), so we had finished our school day by 10:30, had lunch, and then went to our local bowling alley with about 100 other homeschoolers (seriously - I am NOT exaggerating that number at ALL!), where they had a homeschool lesson about the physics, science, and mechanics that goes into bowling, how bowling balls are made, and how the lanes know how many pins you knocked down. Then, each kid was able to play two games of bowling. We found some friends there, and Emma and one of her friends managed to play the equivalent of 5 games each at no extra cost! (One family with 6 bowlers had to leave after only 1 game, so Emma and her friend started and finished their second game for them) It was a very fun day! Finally, tomorrow after ballet, I'm taking Emma to our first ever Medievel Faire to see some jousting and an abbreviated version of a Romeo and Juliet play! Like I said, we've had a very busy week!
