The second week of Catholic Schoolhouse went MUCH better than the first. I was never behind, and we actually had a few extra minutes to review some facts from the first week! During my 30 minute break for Science, I was actually able to sit for about 20 minutes, and pray part of a rosary! It may not be as crazy as I initially thought! Yay! :-) I also made a very exciting discovery this week! I've always been terrible (read can't remember the last time I did) at taking my basal temperature (for NFP - Natural Family Planning), relying mostly on mucus and God's timing. Anyway, since Emma was born, my thyroid has always tested normal (although I had always been hypo - low, diagnosed around age 18 until her birth). Well, anyway, I took my basal temperature the other day, and it was 95.7F! For you NFP users, you probably know that a temperature that low indicates an obvious low thyroid! So, I've ordered some oils to support my thyroid, and they should be here any day! Hopefully, my thyroid has been my problem all along, and fixing it will soon result in a healthy pregnancy. I wonder if my thyroid has been off this whole time, and somehow just tested normal...looking back, that was probably the cause of my miscarriage last year too. Everyone kept blaming it on stress, but even with my mom's illness, and taking care of her, that was the least stressful pregnancy I had ever had. When I was pregnant with Bella, it was unplanned, with an emotionally abusive guy who refused to marry me or help in any way, and actually said in front of me that he hoped I'd miscarry. When I was newly pregnant with Emma, We had just moved, lost custody of Bella within a few days of my positive pregnancy test, and I had all those boxes of her things to unpack and find places for. Comparatively, my last pregnancy with Charlotte, stress-wise, was a breeze! So, I'm very hopeful! So, I think I mentioned before that I'm not only teaching Catholic Schoolhouse, but I will also be teaching Religious Ed at our parish. This last Monday, I had a meeting for the teachers of Religious Ed, where I found out I'll be teaching a group of 4th graders. In my class, there appears to be about 3 sets of twins! Should be interesting... Then, on Tuesday, Mark and I had to go to a parent meeting for the kids who are preparing for 1st Communion. I had asked the DRE on Monday to specifically mention the importance of both parents attending the Family Formation meetings (the parents listen to a talk by Fr., and get catechized to better teach the kids at home, while the kids are in class for 2 hours once a month) if at all possible. She said she would, but I guess she forgot come Tuesday, because it wasn't really mentioned. Anyway, at the meeting on Tuesday, she passed out a packet of information with the schedule of the classes on top. Mark grabbed it, and right away started putting the dates and times in the calendar of his phone. I got all excited, thinking that he was planning to come without being specifically told to! Then, afterwards, we went around the corner for pizza, where he said "so, I figure you'll be gone about 3-4 hours on those days". *Sigh* I think I MIGHT have talked him into at least coming to the first one, but if you could spare some prayers, I'd really appreciate it. If for no other reason, it would be really nice for him to know and better understand what I am and have been teaching the kids for the last 5 1/2 years. Plus, he'd be better equipped to support me spiritually, and answer questions from the kids if/when they ask. Fast forward to this morning, when I let Skye out to go potty, and this adorable little frog was on the patio door! I managed to catch it in a jar so Emma could see it when she woke up! When she woke up a couple hours later, we carefully looked at all the properties of the frog, and classified it as a Cope's Gray Tree Frog. Emma drew a picture of it in her science
notebook, and I helped her write all about it. Then, like good scientists, we released the frog back to it's natural habitat when we were finished. Thank you, God, for that totally awesome, impromptu science lesson today! God Bless! Dana
